The 5th International Symposium on Industrial Engineering and Automation (ISIEA 2026), an initiative of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Faculty of Engineering, will take place in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy, on June 17th-19th, 2026.
ISIEA regularly welcomes contributions on innovation, transformation and digitalization of the industry, as well as their broader impacts. The special theme for ISIEA 2026 is “People, Planet, and Progress: New Trends in Design and Manufacturing”. This edition is particularly relevant for design scholars, as it will explore how innovative design, advanced manufacturing, and industrial engineering can drive sustainable development. Several special tracks addressing specific hot topics are available, which complement the subjects included in the general track. More details can be found on the ISIEA website and in the Call for Papers. The chairs of the symposium include the DS members Aurora Berni and Yuri Borgianni.
The organizers will be glad to receive your latest research contribution, which can be in the form of full paper or extended abstract. All accepted full-papers will be published in the ISIEA 2026’s proceedings, which will form a volume of Springer’s Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems – Scopus-indexed. Extended abstracts will instead be included only in the book of abstracts. Both forms of contribution will be reviewed by a panel of internationally renowned scientists and have to be presented in person at the conference.
The upcoming deadlines for submissions are February 14th 2026 (for full papers) and April 18th 2026 (for extended abstracts). Templates and the link to the submission system are available at ISIEA Submission Info.
