Description

The aim of Design Science is to serve as the archival venue of science-based design knowledge across multiple disciplines. Design Science aims to facilitate communication across diverse fields and serve as a bridge across several communities, publishing original research but with a strong emphasis on accessibility by scholars from a diversity of disciplines. Design Science further aims to motivate scholars from these diverse fields to recognise the importance of their expertise to the design of artefacts and systems and thus pursue work with direct applicability to design.
Design Science publishes original quantitative and qualitative research in the creation of artefacts and systems, and their embedding in our physical, virtual, psychological, economic, and social environment. The Journal also publishes reviews and survey papers with strong tutorial elements, theory papers, shorter notes (for example, pertaining to a particularly interesting exemplification of design science in a design artefact or practice), editorials, and book, software and design tool reviews. The fields contributing to Design Science include: architecture; behavioural, social and cognitive sciences; life and health sciences; business; computer and information science; engineering; industrial design; and organisational and management science. Design Science is a gold open access journal.
