Dependency and Structure Modeling (DSM) techniques support the management of complexity by focusing attention on the elements of a complex system and how they relate to each other. DSM-based methods have proven to be very valuable in understanding, designing, and optimizing complex system architectures such as those of products, organizations, and processes.
The International DSM Conference provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and developers of dependency modeling methods and tools to exchange experiences, discuss trends, and showcase results. The program consists of:
- Tutorials and workshops (DSM methods, industry sprint, software vendors)
- Keynote speeches
- Presentations of accepted research papers and abstracts
- Industry presentations
- Networking events
DSM 2026 will be held as an onsite conference in Milan, Italy on 29 September - 01 October 2026 at Politecnico de Milano with involvement from ABB. DSM 2026 includes three submission tracks:
Full Papers of 6-10 pages can be submitted for double-blinded review until 01 May 2026.
If you are at an early stage of your research work or working on industry projects, you can submit your work as a published Extended Abstract of 3-4 pages to undergo a separate selection and publication process until 02 August 2026.
If you are from industry, you can present your latest insights in the Industry Presentation track. Submit a short abstract (300-500 words) by 02 August 2026, which will be reviewed by the Industry Committee.
DSM 2026 invites contributions on Dependency and Structure Modeling (DSM) research and applications in (but not limited to) the following areas:
- Agile Development Methods
- Complexity Management
- DSM Data Collection and Model Generation
- DSM Methods and Tools
- Engineering Analytics and AI
- Human-AI Collaboration in Design
- Platform Architecture and Modularity
- Program/Project Management
- Socio-Technical Systems Modeling
- Systems Engineering & MBSE
DSM 2026 is run by the International DSM Community in cooperation with Politecnico de Milano, ABB, University of Stuttgart, Stevens Institute of Technology, Texas Christian University (TCU), and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It is an endorsed event of the Design Society. For more information, including templates for papers, please visit: DSM-conference.org
