About this SIG

About

The goal of the Design Theory SIG is to organize, collect, and support research work that contributes to the renewal of Design theory by benefiting from new scientific advances and by adapting it to contemporary design situations. It unfolds into four axes: 1- Design theory, Mathematics, and Formalized models 2- Design Theory and new approaches of flexible structures of Knowledge 3- Theory-driven experiments 4- History of Design theories, Contemporary transitions and Identity of objects

Core Aims & Objectives

The SIG evolves along two main directions: the “hard program” (formal design theory) and the “open program” (design theory and design issues), that are closely interacting with each other DT organizes annual workshop and tutorial with regular sessions on the transdisciplinary impact of Design Theory: in management, economics, chemical engineering, philosophy, communication science, history, law, industrial design, cognition, psychiatry, software engineering, system engineering, architecture,…

How can members get involved?

Design Society members are actively involved in the activities of the Design Theory SIG, including the annual Design Theory Workshop and the SIG Tutorial on Design Theory, which is specifically tailored for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
