Abstract

Within this paper, the model of the „Solutions Space Representatives” (SSR) is presented. The use of the model allows the parallel modelling of products and their processes in mutual dependency already during the early development phases. This leads to a model-based integrated product and process development which clearly exceeds the approaches of Simultaneous Engineering and Concurrent Engineering. Afterwards, a procedure using the SSR for the development of production processes is developed. For the purpose of example, this procedure is applied to the development of a screen rack.

Keywords: Solution Space Representatives, production planning, early design phases, robust design, fixation.
