Held in fanciful Helsinki Finland at the Design Factory at Aalto University, this PhD researcher course will cover the latest research in modularity and product architecture. Prof.’s Kevin Otto (Aalto University), Dieter Krause (Technical University of Hamburg) and Seung Ki Moon (Nanyang Technological University) will provide hands-on learning experiences with modularity research methods, including lifecycle modularity analysis, cost and value impact analysis, platform development processes, and hold interactive discussions on research questions in modularity. These are not tutorials in modularity methods, but rather we will discuss capabilities, limitations and research opportunities. An optional industry day on 8 June will include industry persons with modularity applications to discuss research collaboration opportunities. Under joint Design Society and Aalto University support, there is no cost for attending, but travel expenses are not covered and left to the student.
