ICED21 International Conference on Engineering Design

We live in a world where societal challenges and technological advancements fundamentally alter the conditions for designers and product developers. The economy is turning circular and products are being designed to be sustainable, connected and intelligent. The way we produce and use energy and information radically changes both our products and our means to design our products. Adapting products to social and health development highlights the importance of design for human well-being.
As such we design “solutions” rather than “products”, and in many ways Design is in motion.
Let’s make ICED21 the place where researchers and practitioners can bring together different perspectives to address a common goal: how we can design solutions for a higher quality of life. By sharing experiences and perspectives we can increase our understanding about how we can address societal challenges by taking full advantage of the most promising technological advancements.
Chalmers University of Technology is a university located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Gothenburg is the automotive capital of Sweden, but Gothenburg does not only mean cars and transportation vehicles. For example, life science is one of Gothenburg’s fastest growing industries and major investments are being made here. Gothenburg is celebrating 400 years in 2021, so there will be other events happening in the city beside the ones you will enjoy at ICED.
