Abstract:
Existing approaches do not adequately address the estimation of engineering costs resulting from failed tests. An analysis of related work reveals three key deficits: insufficient investigation of test-induced changes, the lack of a systematic categorization of the scope of changes, and a failure to derive concrete action steps. This paper presents a knowledge graph-based approach that captures and evaluates impact patterns between test results and requirement changes. In a seven-step prescriptive research approach, impact patterns are derived from the literature, a criticality analysis is conducted, and, based on this, action measures are proposed. The approach supports engineers in estimating the potential for changes and the resulting effort at an early stage, thereby enabling them to make informed decisions about necessary engineering iterations resulting from test-induced changes.
