Abstract:
This paper presents the development and evaluation of a software tool used to create morphological matrices. The tool was tested in two university product development courses for two years, and was used by hundreds of students. A questionnaire and a focus group was utilized to evaluate the tool. While the tool worked mostly as intended, it had some unintended consequences when applied in the university courses. Students who used the tool would sometimes misunderstand the underlying method, and consequently not utilize the tool correctly.
