Abstract

The paper considers the conceptualization of a systemic approach that supports the designer in the efficient selecting of existing product variants within the tender phase. Its central idea is that for every element in a data base there is always a pair of a design solution (CAD model) and a corresponding system of objectives that is reasoning this design solution. The approach is described in detail using the examples of camshaft systems.
