Abstract

Coordinating concurrent interdependent activities is an important method to accelerate the Product Development (PD) process and improve its value. In PD process, we can execute a small function
adjustment of an activity in order to achieve a value-added improvement of the product. Two types of Domain Mapping Matrix (DMM) are proposed for showing the expected value improvement and
coordinating relationship in the project. Expected Value Improvement Matrix can be utilized to identify which value domains of each activity have improvement opportunity and the degree of
improvement. Coordination Support Matrix can help to find the coordinating relationship and efforts between supported activities in development projects. Based on these DMM, the method of evaluating value improvement is presented. An industrial example at an IT company is provided to illustrate the proposed DMM.
