Abstract:
The current developments towards sustainability are causing structural and technological changes in how we create value. Biointelligence is a recent innovation that combines biology, hardware and software to create powerful, efficient and sustainable technological solutions. Despite its importance and potential, the research domain of biointelligent systems is still in its early stages. The theoretical foundations, methodological approaches and classifications of biointelligent systems are yet to be developed. This article analyses the current state of research by conducting a systematic literature review. Additional findings from industry best practices and literature provide insights into the current structural and value creation logics of biointelligent systems.
