Knowledge Base Repository

In addition to research papers, the Design Society is developing several valuable resources for those interested in the study of design. These include a repository of PhD theses, a library of case studies and transcripts of design activities, and an archive of our newsletters. Abstract:
The objectives of this research are i) to identify and evaluate the pattern of design problem usage over the past 15 years, and ii) to assess whether the choice of design problem
influences the effectiveness of examples used as interventions in user studies. A design problem network is used to identify the pattern of design problem usage and suggests there is an opportunity to increase the sharing of design problems between design researchers. A meta-regression approach is used to evaluate if design problem size affects results of experiments where examples have been used as interventions. A regression model is used to predict the standard mean difference with problem size as predictor variable and the quantity of ideas generated. A linear relationship between problem size and effect size distribution indicating that problem size might have influenced the effectiveness of examples used as interventions in studies.
