Abstract

The significance of knowledge in the process of engineering design is often underestimated, disregarded in methodologies or neglected due to operational constraints. This paper presents knowledge oriented adaptations to the scientific engineering process model of VDI 2221 as well as a knowledge oriented reengineering approach to be applied on real industrial design processes.
