Abstract

Across many design disciplines, much research has been and continues to be conducted in the area of developing advanced methodologiesto enhance the overall design process. Much of this research has focused on tool development. In questioning how the “collaborative system” will be used for interaction, Kvan acknowledges the important role of interaction and related tools in product design [Kvan 2000]. Bucciarelli describes the interest of the artificial intelligence community as designing new computer tools to help engineers [Bucciarelli 1988].Noy and Hafner state that most researchers in the discipline of ontology design agree that one of its most important goals is to make ontologies sharable by developing common formalisms and tools [Noy and Hafner 1997]. While such tools are perhaps not as emphasised in agile methods, the use of physical artefacts such as interactive wall charts and automated testing tools is integral to team coordination and motivation [Whitworth and Biddle 2007].

International Conference on Advanced Design Research and Education 2014 (ICADRE14)he International Conference on Advanced Design Research and Education (ICADRE) aims to promote the understanding, use, and education of engineering design in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. The objectives of this conference are to advance research in design, to share practices of design education, and to discuss how the output of design research can be adopted into design education. We invite high-quality submissions covering original and previously unpublished work for this conference....
