Abstract

Since definitions of creativity and innovation abound, it is far from trivial to understand the present and future potential of Asian engineering to be recognised as a source of creativity and innovation in technology, business and design. This paper seeks to contribute to the ongoing reflection of the role of creativity and innovation in the education of future engineers in Asia. The approach taken in this short paper is constrained to one single indicator, which we call the Creativity Awareness Index or CAI, a ratio of mentions of creativity compared to other terms of interest. The results challenge current assumptions and shift the conversation.
