Abstract

In recent years mechatronics have become a part of almost every technical product and the field is becoming increasingly relevant. Modeling and simulation have proven to be adequate tools to deal with complexity and to improve communication across domains – two of the main issues in mechatronics. However, there is currently no holistic methodology which exploits the potential of using modeling and simulation from the very beginning. In this paper established methodologies will be analyzed and requirements for a model- and simulation-based development process will be derived. Finally, an initial framework that will fulfill these requirements will be presented.
