Abstract

The essential elements in building fun and memorable experiences may have to do with playfulness and gaming. The demand for toys among products consumed during leisure time is growing. The toy industry reaches towards new target groups – even adults. A great deal of design research conducted in the past years has concentrated on product usability. But as the experiences toys may deliver not only relate to the usability aspect, attention has to be paid to other areas of user experiences. This paper aims to reflect what should be considered when starting to design instruments of play.
