Knowledge Base Repository

In addition to research papers, the Design Society is developing several valuable resources for those interested in the study of design. These include a repository of PhD theses, a library of case studies and transcripts of design activities, and an archive of our newsletters. Abstract:
In our previous research, we focused on the creative aspects of collaboration and proposed an analytical method of ideas created by designers during collaborative design projects. This method analyses created ideas using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) and reveals characteristics and overall effectiveness of each idea, relationships between ideas from the various viewpoints and potentially fruitful directions for improvement of created ideas or exploration of new ideas. This paper focuses on individual differences, especially differences in designers' idea evaluation. In our previous method, the results of multiple designers' evaluation are summed up to carry out DEA, so the differences in designers? evaluation are averaged by summation and can't be exposed to the result of DEA. However, in most cases, the differences in designers' evaluation exist because of various reasons and such differences or diversities themselves are worth being focused and analyzed for further idea exploration. Therefore, this paper proposes a new analytical method for revealing such differences by analyzing the results of designers? idea evaluation from various viewpoints.
