The Institute of Engineering Design at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is one of the leading university institutes in the field of engineering design and product development in Germany. About 40 scientists teach and research in the fields of design methodology, virtual product development, machine elements and mechatronic systems.

The scope of duties covers the following:
The central task of product developers is to meet the ever-increasing demands on technical products in the product lifecycle. For this purpose, a multi-criteria analysis of solution variants in product development (e.g. different concepts, designs, elaborations) is of great importance. Within the scope of a research project, a multi-criteria, computer-supported analysis and decision making process of solution variants with regard to all requirements from the product life cycle is to be developed and implemented. We are looking for an engineer who is committed to promoting the above-mentioned topic and who is actively involved in the specialist group. The opportunity for a doctorate is given.
Necessary: Above-average successful diploma/master's degree in an engineering degree programme (mechanical engineering or related subject area). Ability to work independently but also in a team. Open-mindedness for interdisciplinary work.
Desirable: Knowledge of valuation methods and matrix-based product description.
Intended pay scale: TV-L E13 (Tarifvertrag für den Öffentlichen Dienst der Länder/Germany). The offered position is full-time and not suitable for part-time work. The position is temporary.
