Abstract

To cope with the increasing complexity of software-intensive systems consisting of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, an information model for model-based engineering (MBE) has been developed. The system models and structures as well as data models are classified and semantically linked. This ensures the indispensable traceability along the development process and provides the basis for a pragmatic realization of the integrated system model in existing product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. The approach is developed based on requirements and characteristics in machinery and plant design. It is however transferable to other industrial sectors such as Automotive or Aerospace Engineering. It also takes into account the existing peculiarities of federalized IT landscapes.
