Design Society Scholarship Opportunities

Introducing the Design Society Volunteering and Conference Scholarships

The Design Society is pleased to offer a range of scholarships to support our members’ participation in leading conferences across the design research and education community. These scholarships are designed to foster inclusivity, reduce financial barriers, and enhance member engagement by enabling more members to attend and contribute to Design Society-supported events.

Attending conferences in person provides unique opportunities for professional growth—sharing research, engaging with cutting-edge ideas, building networks, and strengthening our worldwide community

Scholarship Models

Design Society Scholarships are structured around two primary models:

  1. Volunteer Scholarships – These scholarships provide financial support for members who contribute their time and skills to assist with conference operations and activities. Recipients receive a reimbursement of their conference registration fees upon the successful completion of their volunteer duties. Priority is given to full-time students, early-career researchers, and members from underrepresented regions.
  2. Conference Scholarships – These scholarships are intended for members who demonstrate financial need and a strong commitment to advancing knowledge within the design field. Recipients are reimbursed for their conference registration fees after attending the conference, enabling them to participate fully in conference sessions, networking opportunities, and community activities.
