Due to the demographic shift, there is a growing need for products, which can improve and maintain the autonomy and mobility of elderly people. The group of elderly people is highly heterogeneous and has a high number of variant and variable, i.e. changing over the time of use, requirements on products. The embedding of cyber-physical systems in products for maintaining and improving the mobility of elderly offers great opportunities for new and automatic functions on the one hand and the realization of a holistic support system on the other hand. A few examples and advantages due to cyberphysical systems are given below. However, there is a huge need for the development of methods that can handle the high complexity of cyber-physical systems.
