Abstract

As the human body does not allow for direct measurement, a combined approach of indirect measurement linked with a supporting simulation model has to be taken. This paper presents a method to simultaneously develop this simulation model and an interlinked technical (measurement) system. Extending the existing approach by Uthmann, the method establishes a simplified way to aggregate all information and requirements necessary for design and implementation of both a simulation model and a technical system. Splitting the requirement acquisition and design process into three modelling stages, the method limits interdisciplinary collaboration for each step to two partners, reducing overhead and the chance of misinterpretation by peer validation.

Keywords: simulation model, interdisciplinary collaboration, peer validation, lower extremities
