CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: Survey on the fundamentals allowing the engineering designer to perform computer-based design analysis on his/her own

Published:

Traditionally computer-based design analysis (CBDA) is performed by design analysts at the design analysis department. CBDA is here confined to quantitative design analyses utilizing tools as: FEM, CFD, MBS and supportive tools as KBE, optimization (shape, topology and others) within mechanical engineering. We have so far only limited insights into why and how some companies have adopted this integration concept. So far, our findings supports that both cost and time savings are obtainable, but there are a number of issues that have to be carefully investigated and secured. We would therefore appreciate your and your company’s help in answering some questions on how and by whom CDBA is performed (engineering designers or analysts) and which...

Proceedings now available to download - The 19th Academic Design Management Conference: Design Management in an Era of Disruption

Published:

The 19th DMI: Academic Design Management Conference: Design Management in an Era of Disruption was hosted by the London College of Fashion and organised by DMI in collaboration with Loughborough, Westminster and Lancaster Universities. The theme of the conference was Design Management in an Era of Disruption. The management of design has arguably never played such an important role as it does today, as changes to the business and social environment call design to the forefront. The quantity of practitioner writing on the topic has grown voluminously over the past five years, both in terms of popular management books explicitly focusing on the subject and in articles of note appearing in major publications such as The Economist, Harvard Business...
