19th Symposium on Design for X

Saturday 28th of June 2008

Neukirchen (Germany) 09.-10.10.2008
Since 1990 the Department of Engineering Design of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Harald Meerkamm) organises the annual “Symposium on Design for X” (“Symposium Fertigungsgerechtes Konstruieren”, “Symposium on Design for Manufacturing” before 2000). Since its existence the symposium has been closely connected to WDK (Workshop Design-Konstruktion) and the Design Society which emerged from WDK.
The aim of the DFX-Symposium is to bring together scientists of different countries for discussions on current and emerging topics in the field of DFX, Integrated Product Development, Design Methodology, Design Processes, Tolerancing, Computer Tools in Design and Mechatronics – outside the usual university atmosphere in order to enhance openness and density.
Please note: Prof. Meerkamm generously decided to make all the papers presented in the DFX-Symposia since 1997 (i.e. since they were processed electronically) available - bringing the total number of papers for the members of the Design Society to over 2,300.

First announcement: Workshop AEDS 2008 - Applied Engineering Design Science

Tuesday 11th of March 2008

Date of the AEDS 2008 Workshop: 24.-25.10.2008

The AEDS 2008 Workshop follows the series of WDK and DS workshops on Applied Engineering Design Science (AEDS), which have taken place in Pilsen, Czech Republic, since 1992.
By tradition, the focus is on the utilisation of knowledge from Engineering Design Science for the development of technical products in different branches, but also on the enhancement of the scientific knowledge itself.
The AEDS 2008 Workshop is organised by the AEDS Special Interest Group of the Design Society.
The workshop takes place in the Research and Educational Library of the Pilsen Region, which since 2006 is the home of the Vladimir Hubka International Library of Engineering Design Science.
