Abstract:
Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) are vital for evaluating environmental impacts during product development but face challenges due to data uncertainty, interdisciplinary workflows, and dynamic information. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems address these challenges by organising distributed processes, tools, and data. This paper introduces a graph-based framework for holistic LCA-PLM integration, characterised by eight dimensions: lifecycle, process, method, tool, system, data, semantics, and know-how. Using RDF models, a semantic layer, and SPARQL endpoints, the framework ensures efficient data exchange and dynamic information access for LCAs. It enables informed ecological decision-making in early design phases. Future work includes prototype implementation and use-case validation.
