Abstract:
Although, the literature indicates that industrial designers play a significant role in supporting companies' implementation of innovation strategies . the literature is not specific enough in to define what specific roles the industrial designers undertake in supporting the enterprise innovation strategies. Therefore, this study takes the design management staircase as the theoretical framework to map the roles of industrial designers onto the five categories which make up the design management staircase. The aim is to identify the roles of industrial designers in enterprises' implementation of organizational innovation strategies. The industrial design academic will be able to use the outcomes of study to evaluate their industrial design programmes in relation to the identified potential industrial designer capabilities .
