Abstract:
The magnetorheological elastomer (MREs) studied in this paper have been synthesized with incorporation of multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) into Natural rubber (NR) as matrix and carbonyl iron (CI) particles as a filler. Several tests were conducted using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) and Universal Tensile test. The experimental results show with the addition of different types of MWCNT were able to improve the dispersion of CI particles and MWCNTs but still tends to agglomerate. The magnetic saturation is increased parallel with increasing of tensile strength in the range of 9% to 10%, respectively. Moreover, the broadview and potential applications of MREs are also dealt of.
