Abstract

The quantification of mechanical-dynamical interactions between a power
tool in action and its workpiece is important for an effective product development.
This interaction determines the performance of the power tool and is
therefore important to the user. These interactions result in load cases on the
power tool. Designers and test engineers currently rely on empirical data of
load cases to base their calculation and dimensioning on. Currently, there is
no measuring device to measure the multi-dimensional forces in the contact
between the power tool and the workpiece. In this article, a measurement
system is introduced to investigate this contact. As a part of the measuring
system, a virtual calculation model is needed to transfer measured valued into
the contact between the power tool and the workpiece. An approach is presented
to align this model with the real measuring system to ensure the evaluation
quality.
