Abstract

A systematic combination of functional integration and integration of production processes holds - particularly within a continuous flow production -diverse potentials for product innovation, e.g. in terms of weight, reliability, assembly costs or a cost-effective production. The newly introduced F²-degree of integration is accompanied by new design strategies the foundation
for a catalog of concrete and practically applicable design guidelines and references. Applying these design guidelines leads to a gradually increased F²-degree of integration and hereby to a broader utilization of the aforementioned potentials.
