Abstract

The product development of power tools struggle with the complex interaction of the power tool, the user and the application. Current investigations of the functional reliability of impact wrenches displayed a wide spread in clamping force of the bolt-nut-connection caused by different operators. This inconclusive influence on the technical system is a problem for the designers of power tools. In the human-machine-integration approach Hand-ArmModels are one method to solve this problem, but currently there is no usefulmodel for rotatory excitation. This paper displays the influence of various users on the clamping force applied by an impact wrench and introduces a method to analyze the reaction of power tool users by applying vibrations in translational and rotatory directions.
