RESPONSIBILITIES

The person sought is expected to perform the duties associated with this position with dynamism and creativity. This includes:

  • Develop, teach and coordinate undergraduate courses in mechanical and aerospace engineering;
  • Propose and supervise projects that integrate mechanical and aerospace engineering programs;
  • Participate in the organization of the mechanical and aerospace engineering programs, including through the departmental program committees;
  • Initiate and contribute to the development of pedagogical innovations;
  • Participate and collaborate with institutional and industrial partners in order to ensure the relevance of the courses and integrative projects in mechanical and aerospace engineering;
  • Contribute to various administrative functions of Polytechnique in relation to his/her expertise and qualifications;
  • Participate in service functions towards the academic and professional community, and society.

The faculty lecturers are provided with specific activity spaces, technical support, computing environments and funds to support their pedagogical activities.

AREA OF EXPERTISE

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a full-time Faculty Lecturer to contribute to the teaching of mechanical design courses in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering programs. The person sought must have in-depth expertise in this field to teach and supervise courses such as: integrating projects, machine design, hydraulics and pneumatics, computer-aided engineering and product life cycle management (PLM). Consideration of sustainable development is an asset. Coordination and teaching of several of these courses are required.

Winter or summer 2022

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have demonstrated significant expertise in mechanical or aerospace engineering, preferably including three or more years of practical experience related to this position. He/she has a master's degree or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related discipline. The candidate possesses teaching skills demonstrated by prior post-secondary teaching experience and supported by teaching evaluations.

As the language of instruction at Polytechnique is French, the person sought must have a very good command of oral and written French upon taking up the position. He/she should also be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec when taking up the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This faculty position is a tenure-track. Salary and benefits are set in accordance with the collective agreement in effect. The latter includes arrangements for work-life balance and offers maternity, paternity and adoption leaves in addition to the Québec Parental Insurance Plan.
