3rd TUM Spring School on Systems Engineering (TUMS3E)

The 3rd TUM Spring School on Systems Engineering is going to take place 26.-30.03.2012 in Munich, Germany.

Please note: Applications for participation are due 15.01.2012!

3rd TUM Spring School on Systems Engineering will be held in cooperation with the Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. The spring school refers to PhD students of all disciplines whose working areas are related to any aspects of systems engineering. The aim of the four day course is to encourage international scientific exchange on important literature, definitions and actual and future topics. Furthermore the PhD students should be enabled to gain an insight into industrial implementation and application of systems engineering.

Besides general talks on Systems Engineering the participants of the course will present their own topics and there will be intense discussions with invented guest from academia and industry. Those will also present current requirements and challenges in their companies.

Call for Papers: DSM 2012 - 14th International DSM Conference

Wednesday 11th of January 2012

The 14th International DSM Conference will take place September 13-14, 2012, in beautiful Kyoto, Japan.

Dependency and Structure Modeling (DSM) originates from the methods that have come about from using the Design Structure Matrix and similar methods (matrix-based as well as graph based). These methods have proven very valuable in designing complex systems, optimizing technical systems and product architectures and organizations, densely networked processes and large market structures. With its ability to manage complexity by looking into the structure of a system, it has led to many other advances and methodologies nowadays.

The International DSM Conference provides a platform for practitioners, researchers, and developers of DSM-related tools to exchange experiences, discuss trends and showcase results and tools. It also acts as a forum to develop new ideas regarding complexity management in all kinds of industries and from many different perspectives.

In addition, factory tours, tutorials, workshops and a solution seminar will complement the event.

Please note: Kyoto is the venue originally planned for DSM 2011, but due to the sad natural catastrophies in Japan the event had to be re-located to the USA. We are happy that our Japanese friends are so soon in a position again to host DSM 2012 in the fantastic environment of Kyoto.

The International DSM Conference is endorsed by the Design Society. The papers of the conference will be available through the Design Society website for members.

Important dates are:

25.04.2012 Short paper submission
01.06.2012 Notification of preliminary acceptance
24.06.2012 Submission of revised contribution (for publication in proceedings)

Please note: No deadline extenstions are possible!
