Thursday 02nd of February 2012 Friday 03rd of February 2012
Venue and location information: Grenoble Institute of Technology, G-SCOP Research Centre, France
This workshop is a follow-up of the first workshop in 2010 which has been very successful (7 editors-in-chief present, 41 researchers from 10 countries).
It aims at helping researchers transform their presented papers, e.g. from past DESIGN or ICED conferences, into high-quality journal publications.
For authors, the main benefit of the workshop is the constructive feedback they will receive on their papers. From there, they should be able to rework and extend their papers for direct submission to a journal through a rigid review process.
The editors of the following journals have already agreed to attend the workshop as advisors:
- CoDesign (Taylor & Francis)
- Design Studies (Elsevier)
- Journal of Design Research (Iderscience)
- Journal of Engineering Design (Taylor & Francis)
- Journal of Mechnical Design (ASME)
- Research in Engineering Design (Springer)
- Technovation (Elsevier)
Important Dates:
10.10.2011: Submission of your ICED11 paper
14.11.2011: Acceptance of participation
10.01.2012: Submission of revised papers

IASDR - The International Association of Societies of Design Research - was established on November 1, 2005, with the Design Society as one of the member organisations.
IASDR, amongst other activities, organises a biennial International Congress on Design Research, at appropriate venues around the world.
Former Congresses have been organised in Taiwan (2005), Hong Kong (2007) and Seoul (2009). See: www.iasdr.org
The theme of IASDR11 is DIVERSITY and UNITY.
The conference aims to provide a unique global forum for the presentation and discussion of research into fundamental aspects of design activity and experience across all domains of application, including industrial design, architectural design and planning, different branches of engineering design, software, interaction and media design, etc.
The schedule and deadlines for submission and registration to IASDR 2011 are as follows:
10 January 2011: Deadline submission of proposals
21 February 2011: Notification of acceptance sent to authors
2 May 2011: Full paper submission
25 July 2011: Peer review results sent to authors
29 August 2011: Final paper uploaded
31 October 2011: Start conference
Proposals for papers or posters of no more than 800 words, as well as full papers will be subject to a double-blind reviewing process. Authors of accepted proposals will receive an invitation to submit a full paper or a poster.
Submissions of proposals, full papers and posters are to be made through the IASDR11 Conference Management System, where registered authors will have access to the evaluations of their papers.
For more information and a link to the conference management system, follow the link stated below.
We look forward to seeing you in Delft!

The DFX Symposia have a track record that dates back to 1990. Since their existence the symposia have been closely connected to WDK (Workshop Design-Konstruktion) and the Design Society which emerged from WDK.
After having been organised 20 times by Prof. Harald Meerkamm (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg), in 2010 a new team has taken over: The symposia will be organised by Prof. Dieter Krause (Hamburg-Harburg University of Technology), Prof. Sandro Wartzack (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) and Prof. Kristin Paetzold (University of the German Federal Armed Forces Munich) - with the venues of the symposia alternating between the three locations.
As before, the aim of the DFX-Symposium is to bring together scientists - especially young scientists - of different countries for discussions on current and emerging topics in the field of DFX, Integrated Product Development, Design Methodology, Design Processes, Computer Tools in Design and Mechatronics.
Main topics in 2011 will be, besides DFX, Process Support in Product Development, Robust Design, and Interdisciplinary Product Development.
Paper submissions are expected by 31.05.2011.
The new organising team continues to make all the papers presented in the DFX-Symposia available to the members of the Design Society.
Most of the papers are in German language, but for the international public may still serve as a reference to topics and authors.

Please note: Due to the sad situation at the moment in Japan, the DSM Conference 2011, originally planned to be held at Kyoto/Japan, has been shifted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
The date has been moved to one day earlier than originally planned: September 14 - 15, 2011.
Dependency and Structure Modelling (DSM) techniques support the management of complexity by focusing attention on the elements of a complex system and how they are related to each other. DSM-based techniques have proven to be very valuable in understanding, designing and optimising complex systems, including: product architectures, organizations and processes. The International DSM Conference provides a platform for practitioners, researchers, and developers of DSM-related tools to exchange experiences, discuss trends and showcase results and tools. It also acts as a forum to develop new ideas regarding complexity management in all kinds of industries and from many different perspectives.
The following three main topics form the outline of the DSM Conference 2011:
Industrial Applications (Systems Engineering and Project Management):
Automotive; Architectural engineering and construction; Aerospace; Information technology / software; Manufactured and consumer goods; Plant Engineering; Other
Research Trends:
DSM approaches and methodologies; DSM complementary approaches such as Domain Mapping Matrix (DMM); Multiple-Domain Matrix (MDM) approaches; Systems Engineering, System Dynamics, General System Theory and others; Applications of Graph Theory in Engineering; Project management; Organization design; Market modeling
DSM Software Tools:
Prototypes and research projects; Commercially available tools
Important dates:
28.04.2011: Short paper submission
31.05.2011: Notification of preliminary acceptance
30.06.2011: Submission of revised contribution (for publication in proceedings)
25.07.2011: End of registration for authors
01.08.2011: End of registration
15.-16.09.2011: Conference in Kyoto/Japan
