Venue and location information: Buchholz/Hamburg, Germany
The DFX Symposia have a track record that dates back to 1990. Since their existence the symposia have been closely connected to WDK (Workshop Design-Konstruktion) and the Design Society which emerged from WDK.
After having been organised 20 times by Prof. Harald Meerkamm (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg), from 2010 a new team has taken over: The symposia will be organised by Prof. Dieter Krause (Hamburg-Harburg University of Technology), Prof. Sandro Wartzack (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) and Prof. Kristin Paetzold (University of the German Federal Armed Forces Munich) - with the venues of the symposia alternating between the three locations.
As before, the aim of the DFX-Symposium is to bring together scientists - especially young scientists - of different countries for discussions on current and emerging topics in the field of DFX, Integrated Product Development, Design Methodology, Design Processes, Computer Tools in Design and Mechatronics.
Main topics in 2010 are lightweight engineering, modularisation, product platforms, variant management.
The new organising team continues to make all the papers presented in the DFX-Symposia available to the members of the Design Society.
Most of the papers are in German language, but for the international public may still serve as a reference to topics and authors.
